trg tech delivers Tech Talk at UBIT, Karachi University

Moving forward with the trg tech Technical Talk Series, our next visit was at Karachi University at UBIT - Department of Computer Science on 17th April 2010. The speaker was Sabina Siddiqi, Software Engineer – Usability, and her topic was ‘Designing Interfaces for the Future’. The talk was attended by third year students of BS Computer Science.

In this tech talk, Sabina Siddiqi demonstrated how one can take the principles used in designing next generation user interfaces and adapt them to one’s own desktop or web applications. She discussed the importance of Usability in User Interface Design then drilled into the basic principles of good UI design and how these have been used to architect next generation interfaces. Students were taken through Schneiderman’s eight golden rules in order to breakdown the complexities of UI design and improve desktop and web applications. The audience was given practical examples in which they were asked to identify problems and provide creative solutions. The session proved to be quite interactive and trg tech will continue the series of talks at various universities across Pakistan with diverse topics and unique speakers.
